- Can I use the old 26 pair cables with the new IP Distribution boxes?
- Yes, and no. The new IP Distribution Boxes are built for Cat-5e capabilities. The older cables are rated Cat-3. This means that by using the older cables, you degrade the system to Cat-3, which means your data will likely not work. That is why DT Search and Designs, LLC developed the 26 pair Cat-5e cables; so that the entire system operates at the same speed and efficiency.
- Having problems opening up the front panel of the J-1077 IP because it is stuck.
- The weather seal that the front panel sits on has a tendency to bond to the panel. Once the screws are removed work it side to side until it comes loose. If it doesn't release right away we'll send you a new seal. Contact us for a replacement.

- What do the switches do on the J-1077 IP?
- First and foremost, the switches isolate the left and right 26 pair connectors. They are used primarily when you want to use the RJ-45 jacks. Moving the switches for the first two Mil-Loks towards the first RJ-45 jack will activate it, but the signal will be routed only to the right 26 pair connector. This is true for all 6 RJ-45 connectors. When all the switches are in the off/data positions (towards the center of the box) the pairs of Mil-Loks are split down the middle; one side going to the left and the other to the right. Effectively, this would allow the J-1077 IP to operate as two boxes with a total of 52 pair connections.
