Phosphorous Waste Management System
In recent years the EPA began expressing a concern over increasing levels of phosphorous in soils which directly contributed to decreased water quality.  Of particular concern is the use of animal waste lagoon water being utilized to irrigate crop fields.  Although crops remove a portion of the phosphorous from the soil, the amount applied normally exceeds the amount removed, so the levels continue to build each year.  As a result, Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) across the nation are being required to significantly reduce phosphorous levels of this liquid prior to applying to fields.  We have formed a joint venture with the Kansas Livestock Association to develop and market the Phosphorous Waste management system, Phred.  A patent is pending. A substantial amount of the research has been done in cooperation with the Kansas State University, Advanced Manufacturing Institute. Phred is being marketed through the joint venture.  For in depth information on Phred, please go to the KEMA website www.kemallc.com
